Privacy Policy
Last Updated: November 24, 2025
This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is handled in the Pilot Window iOS app and on this website.
Pilot Window App - Privacy-First Design
Pilot Window is designed with your privacy in mind. While the app requires access to certain device sensors (camera, location, and motion) to provide its features, all data is processed entirely on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or have access to any of your personal data. Nothing ever leaves your device.
Data Storage
The App functions entirely locally on your device. No personal data is transmitted to external servers. Any data generated by the app stays on your device and is never sent to us or any third parties.
Device Permissions and Data Usage
Pilot Window requires access to certain device sensors to provide its features. Here's exactly what we access and why:
Camera Access
The app uses your device's camera for the following purposes:
- Augmented Reality View: To overlay flight information, celestial objects, and aircraft positions on your live camera feed
- Sky Identification: To help you identify visible objects in the sky such as stars, constellations, the International Space Station (ISS), and nearby aircraft
Privacy Note: Camera data is processed in real-time on your device only. No images or video are stored, recorded, transmitted, or collected. The camera feed is used solely for the live AR display.
Location Access
The app uses your device's location services for the following purposes:
- Celestial Calculations: To accurately calculate which celestial objects (stars, planets, satellites) are visible from your current geographic position
- Flight Position: To determine your current position and altitude during flight for accurate AR overlay positioning
- Aircraft Identification: To show nearby aircraft relative to your location
Privacy Note: Location data is processed locally on your device and never leaves your device. No location history is stored, logged, or transmitted to any external servers.
Motion and Sensor Access
The app uses your device's motion sensors (accelerometer and gyroscope) for the following purposes:
- Device Orientation: To determine which direction your device is pointing so the AR view can show the correct celestial objects in your field of view
- View Stabilization: To provide a smooth and stable augmented reality experience as you move your device
Privacy Note: All motion sensor data is processed in real-time on your device. No motion data is stored, recorded, or transmitted.
Summary of Data Practices
- All sensor data (camera, location, motion) is processed locally on your device
- No data is ever transmitted to our servers or any third parties
- No data is stored beyond the immediate real-time use
- We have no access to any of your device sensor data
- The app works entirely offline - no internet connection is required for core features
